The first Team of the Week for the NorCal Conference has been announced, and all six clubs in action last weekend are represented in the eleven. Yuba FC, the only club to come away from the opening weekend with three points, leads the way with four representatives on the team.
Daniel Jebri scored two second-half goals for FC Davis to cancel out two Sonoma County Sol FC goals. One of those Sol goals was scored by Nathan Lubega. The 18-year-old also drew the penalty that allowed Sol to double their early lead. The other TOTW forward, Luis Martinez scored on a free kick and supplied an assist in Yuba’s 2-1 victory over CF San Rafael.
The midfield is led by Guty Aguilar and Omar Raya of Yuba FC. Aguilar scored the second Yuba goal, which turned out to be the match winner. Oswaldo Rojas from Sonoma County Sol FC scored the penalty that his teammate Lubega won and was a rock in midfield all night. Axel Valle represents Oakland SC on the team, supplying a standout performance after coming on as a sub.
Samuel Kanghere makes the team in defense, helping Albion SC Silicon Valley see off a draw with 10 men. He’s joined by Alexis Garcia-Ayala of FC Davis and Manny Albor of CF San Rafael. Albor played multiple positions in defense on the night and also scored a goal from a set piece.
The goalkeeper honored this week is Edgar Juache of Yuba FC. Juache made six saves in the win and kept the opponents off the scoreboard until a 93rd-minute goal.
