The League for Clubs is excited to announce a new club to our roster for 2025. The Rio Grande Valley Soccer Project will officially unveil its name and brand in March, and will play in The League’s Central Region.
The club will play its home matches in Harlingen, Texas, on historic Harlingen Field. The stadium, built in 1950, has hosted multiple professional baseball teams and has a seating capacity of 4,500. The city of Harlingen and the Rio Grande Valley Soccer Project have worked to revive Harlingen Field, and turn it into the home of this new club.
“We are beyond thrilled to officially join The League for Clubs. The U.S. soccer landscape is constantly evolving, and navigating it can be both exciting and challenging. From the very beginning of this project, choosing the right league was a critical decision in shaping the future of our club. The League for Clubs has welcomed us with open arms, and even in these early stages, it’s clear that we’ve made the right choice. This league provides the ideal environment for us to grow, compete, and learn from well-established clubs while being part of a network dedicated to advancing the sport. Most importantly, we are eager to put RGV back on the soccer map, not just within our conference, but on a national stage. We’re here to compete, to elevate the game, and to represent our community with pride. The journey is just beginning, and we can’t wait to take the field.”
Jamal Fayyad, President/Director of the RGV Soccer Project.
The RGV Soccer Project is the 12th club to be announced in the Central Region and the sixth from the state of Texas, joining FC Dallas U23s, Houston Regals SCA, Central Texas Coyotes, Austin United FC and Corinthians FC of San Antonio.
