The League for Clubs (TLfC) is excited to announce a new club that will compete in the 2026 campaign, Capital City SC of Austin, Texas.
Founded in 2018, Capital City Soccer Club has already seen exponential growth and made a massive impact on the Austin soccer community. With a goal of elevating the game in Austin/Central Texas, the club has put itself on the map in a metro area where interest in soccer is currently booming.
Over 70% of the club’s graduates go on to play collegiate soccer, including Nikola Djordjevic, who was selected 45th overall in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft by Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Before being drafted, Djordjevic captained Southern Methodist University, appearing in all 21 matches and leading the Mustangs to the 2024 NCAA Division I national quarterfinals.
“We are thrilled to take this next leap,” said Kai Gockell, Capital City SC Executive Director. “This move reflects the hard work of our players, coaches, staff and supporters. It is about rewarding that effort with opportunity and raising the bar for what we can achieve together.
Becoming part of TLfC underscores our commitment to providing elite‐level opportunities, enhancing our competitive horizons, and deepening our connection to the community we serve. Founded on the belief that soccer has the power to transform lives, CapCity has steadily built a program grounded in development, character, and ambition. Joining The League for Clubs is the natural next step in that journey, offering our players, coaches and fans a platform that aligns with our vision for growth and excellence."
Capital City SC made it to the UPSL national semifinals in the 2020 fall season. The club most recently competed in the UPSL’s Texas Central Conference in the 2025 fall season.
The League for Clubs had nine clubs from Texas in 2025 that competed in one conference, but has plans for multiple Texas conferences in 2026. A confirmation of all clubs and conferences for next season is expected to be made public in January.
