BTX Soccer Club joins TLfC in 2026

January 9, 2026

The League for Clubs (TLfC) is excited to announce the addition of BTX Soccer Club to its roster of clubs for the upcoming 2026 season.

BTX Soccer Club is based in Brownsville, TX, and was founded to build a community-centered soccer program that provides local players with meaningful development opportunities. Through a structured youth academy, BTX SC serves multiple age groups with age-appropriate training and competitive play, emphasizing technical quality, tactical understanding, character and clear pathways for players to progress within the game while proudly representing the city of Brownsville.

The club will be coached in 2026 by Martin Vela, who has a strong background in player development, coach education and competitive leadership. Vela holds a USSF “B” coaching license. Vela also holds a Master’s degree in Coaching Education and Sports Science from Ohio University and a Master’s degree in Soccer High Performance from the MBP School of Coaches in Barcelona, Spain.

“Joining The League for Clubs is a proud milestone for BTX Soccer Club and for the city of Brownsville,” said Francisco Chavez, Executive Director of BTX Soccer Club. “With our inaugural season launching in Summer 2026, this league provides the right platform to represent our community, compete at a high level, and continue building a club that truly belongs to Brownsville.”

The club will play its home matches at Brownsville Sports Park. BTX Soccer Club will compete in the South Texas Conference alongside regional opponents, including RGV Red Crowns of Harlingen, TX.

Full conference and regional alignment for the 2026 TLfC season will be announced later this month.
